We are proud to deliver a programme which is ICF accredited and was one of the first University approved coaching programmes in the UK.

Over 4,000 coaches in the UK and across the globe have already chosen Barefoot to begin or to build their professional coaching careers. All Barefoot tutors are experienced, ICF accredited coaching professionals trained to postgraduate level and have Barefoot’s required combination of technical expertise, psychological understanding, commercial experience and professional credibility.

The programme is currently priced at £4,950 plus VAT. Please note that this is subject to review and may change at any time. An additional fee is payable to The University of Chester should you wish to complete the PG Cert element of the programme.

Everything you need to know

This programme is for anyone who wishes to acquire or develop coaching skills. It is ideal for executives, business leaders, HR professionals and coaches working in-house or independently, or for anyone with an interest in people development. Completion of this programme and the PG Certificate through the University of Chester can take you one step closer to gaining an MA in Coaching should you wish. You do not necessarily need to have a degree to enrol onto our programme. Please call us to talk about the entry requirements.

Our university-approved and ICF accredited programme will give you an exceptional personal and professional development experience in a relatively short space of time. You will be given insight into a broad range of approaches to coaching and an understanding of the psychological theories underlying coaching. Our programme has been devised to provide a true adult learning experience, offering a rich blend of theory and practice. From day one you will learn new coaching theories, be introduced to a wealth of tools and techniques and will be practising coaching in pairs and small groups.

Barefoot Coaching has been at the forefront of the coach training industry for over twenty-five years. We are based in the UK and have a global reach. We have always been pioneers in the field of university-approved coach training and we are as passionately committed to it today as we have always been. We are proud that the Barefoot name is now instantly and internationally recognised. Our tutors are all highly regarded in their field and offer valuable input and expertise to help delegates optimise and enjoy their learning experience. Over 4,000 coaches in the UK and globally have already chosen Barefoot to begin or to build their professional coaching careers.

Our programme is delivered online in three modules over twenty-five half days, with a two-week interval between each module. The modules cover the following areas of professional coaching practice:

Module One:
Preparation & Introduction Coaching Foundations
Questions & Curiosity
The Coaching Relationship
Goals, Values & Change

Module Two:
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
Coaching in Organisational Settings

Module Three:
Metaphor & Perspective Shifts
Being Professional
Transactional Analysis & Coaching
Self-Care for Coaches

After each module delegates will receive a half-day group mentor coaching session and after the final module delegates will receive additional 1:1 mentor coaching from a Barefoot tutor.

Should you choose to complete the PG Cert academic element of the programme, Barefoot will provide individual tutor support to help you complete your essays and you will also have access to additional University resources.

Psychology has a key role to play in coaching. Coaching really is applied psychology. You will acquire specialist knowledge and understanding of the various psychological theories which underpin modern coaching practice.

Our motto is “Beware the person of one book” – we do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach to coaching. We believe that coaches are more effective if they have access to a wide range of coaching methodologies and have the behavioural flexibility to adapt to the context and the client’s particular needs. Our programme will give you a rich variety of coaching strategies, ideas, tools and techniques and the freedom to develop your own individual coaching style.

You will start practicing coaching from day one and continue regular practice in pairs and small groups throughout the entire programme, receiving feedback throughout from the course tutors. You will benefit from coaching others, being coached and observing coaching demonstrations to help you to develop your own coaching style.

This has been the most transformational experience I’ve ever been part of. I’m so glad that that day 6 months ago I decided to enrol. I’ve met truly amazing people and made friends that I’m sure will remain for life. And the chance to observe so many experienced professional coaches… oh dear what a precious treat.

Nicola Bennett

Lead Scrum Master at NatWest Group

It’s fair to say attending the Barefoot course has not only built my skill and credibility but it has given me a newfound confidence in my ability and practical application which has recently paid off in a work promotion where I will be coaching individuals and co-authoring new ways of working in my business area. Thank you to everyone who has supported me.

Yesterday I completed the taught element of the ICF accredited Postgraduate Certificate in Business & Personal Coaching run by the wonderful people at Barefoot Coaching Ltd and the University of Chester. It’s an outstanding programme and to do it as part of such a collaborative, open and insightful group of fellow students has been quite simply one of the best experiences of my life.
