Introducing Up and Running, a programme designed exclusively for our Barefoot Alumni. This program offers invaluable insights and proven strategies from established Barefoot alumni, other experienced coaches, and seasoned business owners who have successfully started and grown businesses. No matter where you are in your entrepreneurial journey – whether you’ve already launched your business, still wondering whether to take the leap, or are looking to grow your existing coaching enterprise – we have tailored this programme just for you.

You will gain access to a comprehensive year-long content series via our learning platform, The Barefoot Coaching Academy. The programme covers essential topics, including:

  • Developing Your Niche
  • Delivering the Goods
  • Growing Your Business
  • Celebrating Success

Each module features on-demand webinars presented by familiar faces and names from the Barefoot Community as well as other professionals from our wider network. These trusted experts and professionals have had first-hand experience in starting and scaling their businesses and they share their personal experiences, challenges, victories and lessons learned. 

You’ll also gain exclusive access to a diverse range of digital resources designed to support the growth of coaching businesses. These resources include interactive exercises, informative videos and podcasts, and other valuable materials. Additionally, you’ll receive our Coaching Cards for Business Owners, our Financial Coaching Cards and our exclusive ‘Up & Running Coaching Journal’ to support your journey. 

Over the 12 months, you will have the additional opportunity to participate both in our dedicated LinkedIn Group and virtually in seven online group coaching ‘Conversation Spaces.’ These events, led by Kim Morgan, Andy Chandler and other members of the wider Barefoot team will provide a chance for you to connect, exchange ideas, share insights, and engage in meaningful discussions with other members of the programme.

This programme is currently available exclusively to Barefoot Alumni. This includes anyone who is currently signed up for or has completed any of the following Barefoot courses: ICF Accredited and University Approved Coach Training course, PG Cert in Coaching Supervision course or Team Coaching Practitioner Programme. 

The programme is aimed at coaches who want to start, manage or grow their coaching business.

By participating in our programme, delegates will be equipped with the knowledge, insights, resources, and networking opportunities needed to build a successful coaching business. They will learn from experienced coaches, gain access to a wealth of digital resources, and connect with a community of supportive peers through a dedicated LinkedIn group and seven Conversation Spaces, setting the foundation for their entrepreneurial success in the coaching industry.

This programme has also been awarded the following CCE points from the International Coaching Federation:

  • 7 points Core Competencies
  • 33 points Resource Development*


*Resource development includes training formally called Personal Development, Business Development, or Other Skills and Tools.

  • Explore how to build a successful coaching business with expert knowledge and strategies across seven core modules. During the programme, you will:
    • Define the goals, values, mission, and purpose of your coaching business.
    • Craft your brand’s unique story, values, and proposition.
    • Implement strategies to position your brand in the market to attract your target audience and differentiate yourself from competitors.
    • Carry out market research and competitor analysis to identify and review your target market, competitors, and clients.
    • Understand the nitty-gritty of being a business owner, covering everything from handling finances and legal obligations to getting the right insurance and running day-to-day operations.
    • Discover tools and strategies like customer personas and referrals to understand customer needs, establish strong relationships, and deliver value through a range of sales approaches in line with your values and brand.
    • Plan and explore the possibilities for yourself and your business. This includes personal development through continuous learning, attracting talented individuals, considering partnerships or associate coaching, and crafting a growth plan for your business.
  • Acquire practical insights from experienced coaches who have started and grown their own businesses, learning from their real-life stories, successes, and challenges.
  • Benefit from a wealth of practical resources to enhance your knowledge, refine your skills, and implement effective strategies in your own businesses.
  • Connect with fellow delegates to build a valuable network of like-minded individuals, fostering collaboration, support, and maybe even potential partnerships.

Each intake of our programme lasts for one year and is hosted on our learning platform – The Barefoot Coaching Academy. The content is largely asynchronous, with seven live connection and reflection events, called Conversation Spaces throughout the year.

This blended approach gives you the freedom to learn at your own pace and location with content accessible at the point you need it – whilst still engaging in meaningful discussions, exchanging ideas, and sharing insights with other delegates.

Over the year, you’ll have access to seven modules, that launch every 6-8 weeks from the start of the programme. Each module contains a series of on-demand webinars, a wide variety of further resources and a dedicated Conversation Space.

Modules will be released every six-eight weeks, followed by a corresponding Conversation Space session. Delegates can access all module materials and reserve a spot in a two-hour Conversation Space session that fits their schedule. (Just a reminder, you will be able to attend a total of seven Conversation Spaces during the 12-month programme).  We have scheduled multiple dates for each Conversation Space to accommodate all delegates, give you maximum flexibility and ensure everyone can participate in at least one session per module.

Our programme will have two intakes a year. The first intake will start in September 2023 and the second in April 2024.
