How The Course Works – Step By Step

Delivered online over 4 half-day Zoom sessions, the course includes live tutor-led teaching, coaching practice and regular feedback.

It provides a wonderful opportunity for people in similar situations to be coached together and learn together in a safe and confidential group environment. Group coaching can provide significant opportunities for coaches to expand their offering beyond 1:1 coaching.

Focus: Understanding what group coaching really is and how it differs from 1:1 coaching.

Participants explore:

  • What group coaching is (and isn’t)
  • When group coaching is the right intervention
  • Core principles: purpose, structure, confidentiality, psychological safety
  • The role and stance of the group coach
  • How group dynamics support learning, insight and accountability

This session grounds participants in ethical, spacious, and purposeful group coaching design, helping them contract clearly with both organisations and groups.

Focus: How to design group coaching programmes that actually work.

Participants work with:

  • The core elements of a group coaching programme
  • Typical structures for group coaching sessions
  • Designing session flow: opening, exploration, coaching, reflection, closing
  • Group size, pacing, and working across multiple voices
  • Preparing themselves and the group for meaningful coaching conversations

There is a strong emphasis on practical structure, giving participants confidence to design and run groups intentionally rather than “winging it”.

Focus: Developing skill and confidence in working with the group in the moment.

Participants explore:

  • Facilitating group dialogue while staying in a coaching stance
  • Balancing individual and group learning
  • Managing participation, silence, power dynamics and difference
  • Working with challenge, emotion, and “stuck” moments
  • Use of reflection and peer learning to deepen insight

This session supports coaches to stay present, grounded and effective as group complexity increases.

Focus: Applying learning and integrating group coaching into real practice.

Participants:

  • Practise group coaching and receive reflection and feedback
  • Reflect on their own presence, impact and facilitation choices
  • Consider practical application: workplace groups, open groups, development programmes
  • Identify personal strengths and areas for development as a group coach
  • Clarify next steps for using group coaching ethically and confidently

This final session supports integration, confidence, and real‑world application, rather than leaving learning in theory.
